Natural law
The overarching goal seems to be to get to the point where our life is our medicine.
Understanding natural law is understanding that whatever we're doing every single day has become a reflection of our health expression. Yet we get caught up trying to temporarily manipulate outcomes with medications or supplements that could otherwise be permanent with true change. Every single moment medicates.
Our health goals should reflect how we live — respecting natural law. This seems like common sense but it seems that too often we try to cheat our way around natural laws.
We've strayed so far from nature to see it. Even when we notice how perfectly everything is designed in nature, we're convinced that this perfection doesn’t apply to our human creation. We've been thrown medications, treatments, supplements, radiation, therapies, and all of this stuff to "fix" what is not broken.
If you look at any symptom, it's following natural law. It's a healing response. Inflammation, for example, is working in our favor to heal us. We sprain our ankle and that inflammation is there to swell the area with blood, nutrients, plasma, fluid, proteins, and anything needed to be localized at that site to heal it. Yet conventional medicine would try to get us to suppress that inflammation. The same goes with any other expression of natural law and any other symptom (healing response). We are silencing our bodies cry for change at every chance we get.
How everything in the body works and what we perceive it to be doing doesn’t change the natural laws that govern what is really happening.
Nature knows what to do even without human intellect, “fixing”, technology, or any scientific understanding. All of its brilliance is continuously pursued far before any explanation can be given or before any tools have been created to measure what nature contains or is doing. And still, nature continues its perfection and carries on. It carries on perfectly as long as its environment is equipped for it to do so. And so do we.
We've just strayed so far from nature that we believe that natural law doesn’t apply to us.
Ways to live in accordance with natural law
Natural, unadulterated food
By unadulterated I mean both physically (avoiding factory-farmed animals or mono-cropped out-of-season produce, etc.) and mentally (hijacked morals).
If one’s morals are hijacked to the point where they’re convinced that consuming other animals is a hate crime – this is the equivalence to food source being adulterated. They are no longer eating according to their needs or following natural law. Not to say “This is the only way!!! I know the optimal human diet!!!!”, but these moral vegans are not in it for their health. It’s merely a hijacked understanding of the natural world. With this belief set, it’s wrong for a lion to eat zebras, for sharks to eat seals, and for your pet dog to eat its natural diet.
It’s also a lack of understanding as to what it takes to support an all-plant diet. It’s an illusion of being Mr. Niceguy. Head over to where your quinoa is growing and you’ll see how tilling has no mercy, the agrochemicals have no mercy, and the overall operation of industrial monocrop agriculture has no mercy. Your crop is the only one to survive past harvest. Natural law also has no mercy so it’s wise to act accordingly.
Natural, unadulterated water
This is going to be water that exists in its purest form without any additives, contaminants, or alterations. It’s in its natural state as it would be found in the environment, free from chemicals and human-made modifications.
Reverse osmosis is what I drink. It’s a water purification process that uses a semi-permeable membrane to remove impurities and contaminants, but unfortunately minerals as well from water. Pressure is applied to force water molecules through the membrane, leaving behind dissolved solids and other impurities. I remineralize my water with solar-evaporated, concentrated sea water drops.
Mineral water is another good option – if it comes from natural underground sources, such as springs or wells. It is naturally rich in minerals and trace elements that it picks up from the rocks and soil through which it travels. You must be careful with the source because some are higher in heavy metals than others. San Pellegrino is a brand I trust.
Lastly, spring water is a great water source. You can use this website to find a spring. I’d advise testing it for contaminants. Mountain Valley is a great brand.
Some marketing gimmicks to note: Alkaline water is not a magic, health-promoting substance. Kangen water filters (sketchy MLM) do not make a magic, health-promoting substance.
Spending time outside whenever possible
Prioritize sunlight, grounding, and fresh air.
Limit artificial light as much as possible and try to mimic a natural light cycle. See more here.
Movement as medicine
Exercise is not just for aesthetics. It’s ultimately a proactive step towards longevity and a higher quality of life. Whether you’re simply walking, swimming, incorporating some weights, practicing mobility work, or having a weekly movement schedule – you’ll avoid many issues associated with aging. “You don’t use it, you lose it.”
Avoiding toxins
This includes skincare and hygiene products, cleaning products, cookware, industrial work chemicals (wear proper gear), man-made EMFs, etc.
There are so many more necessary measures and topics to take that bring us back in accordance to natural law. Some might need to make more changes than others to get there. I know that it’s important to meet you where you are so I kept this in mind when building my 21-day Holistic Habit Builder to cover a wide range of topics.
Appreciatively, Mia
